Third Time’s a Charm: Longoria & Lopez set to host this year’s ALMA Awards again, September 21

Christina Aguilera will receive a special achievement award, while presenters already include America Ferrera, Michael Peña, Nicole Richie, and Wilmer Valderrama, with more to come

Way back in 2009, Eva Longoria teamed with George Lopez to host the NCLR ALMA Awards. Last year, in 2011, they joined up again. And this year they’ll appear together for a third time, hosting the awards ceremony set to air Friday, September 21 at 8P on NBC.

This year the ALMA Awards will also be honoring Christina Aguilera for her work in music, on television, and in the non-profit sector (achievements that have already garnered ten nominations and three ALMAs). Beyond her five Grammy awards and her headlining performance on NBC’s top-rated singing competition The Voice, Aguilera has also spearheaded some impressive philanthropic work, including her role as global spokesperson for Yum! Brands’ World Hunger Relief effort, where her participation has helped raise nearly $80 million for the World Food Programme (WFP) and other hunger relief agencies since 2009. Aguilera also continues to advocate for gay and lesbian rights and victims of domestic violence.

The NCLR ALMA Awards are selected by a Leadership Team of industry experts who evaluate box office numbers, Nielsen and Billboard rankings, and other factors…and from now until September 7, fans can cast their votes for their favorite nominees online as well, by logging on to www.ALMAAwards.com. What’s more, online voters will be entered for a chance to win a VIP experience for two at the NCLR ALMA Awards, including airfare, hotel, VIP tickets to the show, and an invitation to the VIP Post-Party.

Not all awards will be presented on-air during the NBC special. However, viewers can watch the remaining award presentations during the preshow streamed online at www.telemundo.com/almaawards, and watch the entire special online at telemundo.com/almaawards and on www.nbc.com/alma-awards after the September 21 broadcast.
