Disney celebrated the in-home release of Moana on Blu-ray/DVD on March 7 and the Digital HD is available now. We were there to celebrate too.

We got to sit in on a talk with one of the directors, Ron Clements and producer Osnat Shurer, who shared with us all the extras that will be on the Moana Blu-ray version. That includes a 30-minute documentary called, Voice of the Islands—which is more than the making of the film, it’s about the people and their stories that help make Moana the classic film it’s becoming.

A Cure for Wellness Sparks Conversations

Gore Verbinski, the director of The Ring, comes a new psychological thriller, A Cure for Wellness. At first, it felt like an old Ingmar Bergman film, and then it took some turns I didn’t care for. I realized this film didn’t do it for me and I was hoping for a true psychological thriller, with that said, I’ve learned that they are films for every audience.

Synopsis: An ambitious young executive is sent to retrieve his company’s CEO from an idyllic but mysterious “wellness center” at a remote location in the Swiss Alps. When he begins to unravel its terrifying secrets, his sanity is tested, as he finds himself diagnosed with the same curious illness that keeps all the guests here longing for the cure.

Mayes C. Rubeo is known for her work on Warcraft (2015), World War Z (2013), Avatar (2009), and Apocalypto (2006).Mayes Rubeo, Angela Ortíz, Mayes C. Rubeo, The Great Wall

Rubeo, born in Mexico City, Mexico; moved to Los Angeles, attended a technical school; later on she took a few classes at UCLA Extension and some courses in Italy. Following her studies, she managed to get a job as designer Enrico Sabbatini’s personal assistant, a highly important figure in Italy’s movie industry. It was he who trained her, and put her on the right path to personal and professional growth. She started working on independent films, where she learned to create great things with very few resources, she worked as a costume assistant on films like Total Recall and Born on the Fourth of July; then the director John Sayles asked her to do the design of the costumes for a film called Men with Guns. Right after that, other directors started seeking her out, since they’d already seen her work.

For her, “costumes are a distinctive and highly important element of a film.”

Next on her plate is, Thor: Ragnarok, which will be the third film in the saga, starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Cate Blanchett, to be released in November 2017.

In the video below, we talked about her resent work on The Great Wall, which opens on February 17.
