Thursday is A Big Night (for the moment) for Latinos on TV

Thursdays and Sundays turn out to be the big nights for Latinos on TV on broadcast and cable…though Thursday will be fading a big after the holidays. At the  moment:

Jessica Camacho’s role as the traitor with the nuclear key and Jay Hernandez seems to be a different kind of traitor on one of the last of The Last Resort. It will be finished by Christmas.

Sara Ramirez cures and struggles on Gray’s Anatomy at 9P on ABC; Miguel Sandoval guests

Guillermo Díaz plays the most dangerous man in Washington on Scandal, 10P on ABC

Oscar Nuñez goes out with a bang as The Office enters its last few episodes, 9P on NBC

Aubrey Plaza continues to make a huge impression on Parks and Recreation at 9:30P on NBC

Lea Michele, Naya Rivera and Harry Shum Jr. are joined by the newest Latino Blake Jenner on the (belated) Thanksgiving Day episode of Glee

Michael Trevino is more sexy than scary on The Vampire Diaries, 9P on the CW

Only CBS hasn’t got a Latino actor or role someplace in the mix on Thursday…but a few of them will be leaving us soon. The Last Resort has been cancelled; The Office has already announced its retirement, and Parks & Recreation is on the List of the Walking Dead; Elementary has already jettisoned Manny Perez as well.  Assuming the replacement shows don’t include Latinos–and nobody knows exactly what the replacement shows might be at this point–that’s a pretty significant loss for a healthy night–up to three hours of original programming.

Big changes afoot for even the first half of 2013 Stay tuned…
