Paula Garces creates a comic book character AND a gaming character…in her spare time

Paula Garces is a hard-working young actress—and then some. You’ve seen her before; she did her time on The Guiding Light more than ten years ago, was a regular in Law & Order: SVU in ’05, and co-starred on The Shield for two seasons as well. Most recently, she as in the short-lived ABC astronaut series Defying Gravity and did a season of the SyFy Channel’s Warehouse 13. She’s even been featured in all the Harold and Kumar movies, past and future (next up: Harold and Kumar’s Christmas Movie.) But that’s just the beginning. She’s also appeared as one of Maxim Magazine’s Hot 100, and done multiple guest shots in every series from CSI: Miami to The Sopranos to Oz. But even with all that going on, this talented young Latina, from Medellin, Colombia by way of Spanish Harlem, has much bigger plans…including life as an Earth-protecting superheroine, in comics and in online games.

Paula and her husband Antonio Hernandez have recently developed a super-character named Aluna, a beautiful woman who “carries within her the essence of Earth itself, carrying the power of the moon in a mystical gem.” Aluna Comics is premiering the character…and it will appear as the newest hero in S2 Games’ session-based, multiplayer, action-RPG Heroes of Newerth.
