We are remembering Roald Dahl’s on his 100 year birthday, with a look back of films based on his stories. Here is a list of Dahl’s works for children; James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The Witches, Fantastic Mr Fox, The BFG, The Twits and George’s Marvellous Medicine.
And now, with the release of Disney’s The BFG, directed by Steven Spielberg, it seems appropriate to celebrate. In theaters July 1.

The Shallows: The Attack is Just the Beginning
The Shallows has a lot going for it. It is suspenseful, has a little humor, and its fright value works. Blake Lively is pretty good and she was a bit of a badass on a rock with a bird pal called Steven Seagull.
This is the third film of director Jaume Collet-Serra that I’ve watched and enjoyed. It’s no Jaws, but now the new generation has their own. The only thing I would have liked more is if it had ended without the “One Year Later” scene. The film is visually beautiful.
The Shallows stars Óscar Jaenada, and Brett Cullen. The film is in theaters June 24. — A.O.
FOX’ The Exorcist Is A Head Turner

We got a chance to screen an episode of the new FOX series, The Exorcist. And it was so much more than I expected.
At the little soiree after the screening I got to be part of a conversation with the iconic Geena Davis, who stars in the series along with Alfonso Herrera, who plays a pivotal role as Father Tomas Ortega.

Finding Dory Blows the Top Off at the Box-Office!

Yes! Disney•Pixar has another HIT! Finding Dory has broken US box office record. And of course, Dory is cute! Dory was always the cute one, and it was awesome to see her back after all these years.
They are some great laughs and sweetness in this film that I enjoyed. And for the new generation who are just getting to know her, they’ll be happy. I was happy to have it be the first theater movie my grandnephew got to attend.
The only criticism I have is that it seemed a little long and a bit darker than Finding Nemo. Nemo had its darkness too but it was quick and at the beginning. And for those of us who’s kids watched Finding Nemo when it first came out, Nemo will always have a special place in our hearts.

Al Coronel A New Face on TNT’s The Last Ship
Al Coronel
Actor Al Coronel talks to Jesus Figueroa of Thisfunktional about joining the cast of The Last Ship for Season 3 as politician Manuel Castillo.
Coronel is no rookie when it comes to the limelight, as he can be seen in plenty of other shows including CBS’ Rush Hour, ABC’s Secrets and Lies, NBC’s Heist, and Telemundo’s Sin Verguenza.
He is also in the upcoming film The Darkness, starring Kevin Bacon and Radha Mitchell and has also just been casted in the new Wolverine film alongside Hugh Jackman.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, the bilingual actor currently resides in his hometown.
A military veteran himself, Coronel continues to support vets through the Veterans in Film and Television program, participating in many events for the members.

Coronel is very involved with Children’s Hospital LA as he is a co-host of their annual December blood drive.
TNT’s The Last Ship season 3 premieres with a special two-hour premiere on June 19.
