Odette Annable: Two Series at once, and a movie on the way

Not bad for one fall season, especially if you’re barely 26 years old.

Odette Annable (of Colombian and Cuban descent) was still Odette Yustman when she came to L.A. just a few years ago from nearby Riverside. She was barely 21 when she appeared in the much-ballyhoo’d monster movie Cloverfield and starred in her first TV series, the short-lived October Road. When that ended, she certainly didn’t quit, doing everything from horror movies (The Unborn and Soon the Darkness) to video games (Fallout 3) to another short-lived series (South Beach) to guest shots on other TV series. Then things started to sizzle again when she did an arc on ABC’s Brothers and Sisters–where she met her future husband David Annable and changed her name.

But that wasn’t nearly enough: last year she made a good impression as the bad, bad girl on FOX’s Breaking In, opposite Christian Slater…and now FOX has doubled down on Odette. She’ll be joining the cast of FOX’s venerable medical hit House, as a prison doctor House meets while doing time…and returning as mega-thief Melanie Garcia in the second season of Breaking In–a show with the singular distinction of being cancelled months ago, only to be renewed anyway, just last week. Odette recently confirmed she was going to be doing both; House is filming right now, and she’ll go straight from that sound stage to Slater’s, since Breaking is slated for a midseason start, all while her husband takes a well-deserved rest (Brothers and Sisters was cancelled by ABC after five years just a few months back).

Still not enough? Not even close. Odette is also starring in The Double (under her old name, Yustman), a theatrical release starring Richard Gere and Topher Grace, among many other impressive names. It’s scheduled for a limited release on September 23. All this while staying beautiful, smart, and young. You’d really like to hate her, but by all reports she’s actually nice.

But still, Odette: what’s she going to do for an encore?
