Gloria Estefan explores the roots of Latin music with the BBC

Gloria Estefan may spend more time behind the microphone or in a recording studio than she does on TV, but make no mistake: she is a force to reckoned with, in music and film and many other media. That’s why it’s so good to hear that she’s hard at work on a seven-part series exploring the roots of Latin music with BBC Radio. Though it’s a British production on paper, it’s actually being recorded at Estefan’s own studio in Miami, and it’s certain to include the words and music of a wide range of Latin music stars. After all, Gloria and her husband Emilio know everybody. The BBC 2 quotes her as saying, “I am so happy to be able to share my Latin roots and the passion of the music with the listeners of Radio 2 and all my fans in the UK. This will be a special treat for me to make.”

The weekly one-hour series will premiere in the UK on Thursday, November 3. She does have a new album coming out soon—Miss Little Havana-but that’s not nearly enough. So who do we have to write/call/bombard with e-mails to get the series available, online or on the air, here in the U.S.?
