Hakuna Matata! What A Wonderful Phrase…Thanks Pumbaa and Timon!

The live-action version of The Lion King is finally in theaters. The visual is stunning. I found it really funny, especially the Pumbaa (Seth Rogen) and Timon (Billy Eichner) characters, who steal every scene they are in.

As film critics or moviegoers, we can be a bit harsh when beloved films are redone or rebooted. I was really happy to see that they kept the storyline of the original with a few new songs. It brought back wonderful memories of my son and his cousins as kids. Now as a grandmother, this version of The Lion King will bring new memories.

The Lion King Press

A week ago we sat in on The Lion King global press conference (see audio) with cast (minus Beyonce) Donald Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, Seth Rogen, JD McCrary, Shahadi Wright Joseph, John Kani, Hans Zimmer, Lebo M, Billy Eichner, Florence Kasumba, Keegan-Michael Key, Eric Andre, and director Jon Favreau. We got to listen in on the process used to put this version of the beloved 1994 film together.

Even with all this info, the main highlight for me at the press-day was, the live performance of the song Circle of Life with creator/producer African vocal/choir arrangements Lebo M, Clydene Jackson and a choir singing, prior to the start of the press conference.

Enjoy some images and a few videos from the press conference for Disney’s The Lion King, now in theaters for everyone’s enjoyment. Go check it out! — A.O.

The cast includes Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Jay Ryan, James Ransone, and Andy Bean. Reprising their roles as the original members of the Losers Club are Jaeden Martell (Bill), Wyatt Oleff (Stanley), Jack Dylan Grazer (Eddie), Finn Wolfhard (Richie), Sophia Lillis (Beverly), Chosen Jacobs (Mike), and Jeremy Ray Taylor (Ben). Toy Story 4 is in Theaters NOW!

JimmityCritic and Angela Ortíz

We had so much fun watching Toy Story 4. It could be one of our favorite beside the first in the franchise. JimmityCritic and Se Fija! gives it a three thumps up! Enjoy our photo spread below.

The plot: Woody (voice of Tom Hanks) has always been confident about his place in the world, and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. So, when Bonnie’s beloved new craft-project-turned-toy, Forky (voice of Tony Hale), declares himself as “trash” and not a toy, Woody takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy. But when Bonnie takes the whole gang on her family’s road trip excursion, Woody ends up on an unexpected detour that includes a reunion with his long-lost friend Bo Peep (voice of Annie Potts). After years of being on her own, Bo’s adventurous spirit and life on the road belie her delicate porcelain exterior. As Woody and Bo realize they’re worlds apart when it comes to life as a toy, they soon come to find that’s the least of their worries.
