America, Scientist (vocally speaking)

America Ferrera has been doing some pretty impressive voice work of late, notably How to Train Your Dragon. Now she’s lending her voice to the new season of Sid the Science Kid, the Emmy-nominated children’s series. She’ll appear–aurally, at least–as Dr. Rosalinda Cordova, a marine biologist who–like everybody on this show–encourages kids to become scientists, even at an early age.

Sid the Science Kid is a product of KCET Los Angeles and the Jim Henson Company. Lisa Henson, daughter of the late founder and brother of fellow producer Brian Henson, is the executive producer of the new episodes. “We’re excited to offer kids encouragement and inspiration when it comes to science and math,” she said recently. “Doctor Cordova’s character offers insights on what makes kids great scientists and how they can practice basic principles of science in their everyday lives, like observation, listening and using the computer.”

New programs start on Monday, December 5. Check your local listings!
