One Worth Watching: “Won’t Back Down,” on HBO and HBO2 this Week

Oscar Isaac

Oscar Isaac and Rosie Perez’s film didn’t do particularly well in its wide two-week release last September, but it’s well worth seeing: a story of a diverse group of parents banding together to save a school in jeopardy and excel, despite an uncaring system. It also starred, Liza Colón-Zayas. We talked about it a bit when the movie premiered in L.A., and mentioned it again when it came out on DVD. (You can still buy Won’t Back Down here). Now, it appears as a bright star in a pretty barren Friday night (or Saturday, or Sunday, or Tuesday), as HBO rolls it out at multiple times and on multiple channels over the next few days. Showtimes include:

Friday, August 9 at 7P on HBO Family

Saturday, August 10 at 8A on HBO2

Wednesday, August 14 at 5:55 pm on HBO2

Friday, August 16 at 7P on HOB Family

Saturday, August 17 at 3:10A on HBO Family

Sunday, August 18 at 11:55A on HBO2

Tuesday, August 20 at 12:05A on HBO Family

If you’ve got a free couple of hours on any of those days, it’s worth a look. And here’s Rosie talking about her involvement from the red carpet:
