Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Now Streaming on Disney+

Here’s a little background on Flynn and Barer. 

Pilar Flynn is producer on Disney Branded Television’s Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, based on Marvel’s hit comic books. Flynn is a twice Emmy® Award-nominated producer for her work on Disney’s Elena of Avalor, which follows Disney’s first princess inspired by diverse Latin cultures and folklore.

She began her animation career at DreamWorks Features, where she co-produced the award-winning short First Flight and worked on the production of films such as The Road to El Dorado, Sinbad, Spirit, Madagascar and Flushed Away. Flynn then went on to serve as line producer of the animated feature films Mean Margaret and Astroboy. She was also co-producer on the groundbreaking R-rated animated feature Sausage Party, starring Seth Rogen.

Following her passion for innovative media, Flynn wrote and produced My Beastly ABCs, a heartwarming interactive storybook named Top Ten Kid App of the Year for 2012 by USA Today.

Flynn currently serves on the board of directors for the Latino Film Institute, a nonprofit organization founded by actor Edward James Olmos. She is a native of Chile and Ecuador and spent much of her childhood in countries throughout South America and Europe.

Libe Barer who is Lunella’s best friend and manager, Casey. Barer is most recognized for her performance as Carly Bowman in the crime drama Sneaky Pete, alongside Giovanni Ribisi and Bryan Cranston. Her additional television credits include recurring roles on Those Who Can’t, Parenthood and Colony. She can also be heard as the voice of Violet Sabrewing on Disney’s DuckTales and Sage on Disney Star Darlings. On the big screen, Barer starred in I See You, alongside Helen Hunt, and Disfluency.

Synopsis: Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur follows the adventures of 13-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette (aka Moon Girl) and her 10-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur. After Lunella accidentally brings Devil Dinosaur into present-day New York City, the duo work together to protect the city’s Lower East Side from danger. 

The series stars Diamond White as Lunella/Moon Girl; Fred Tatasciore as Devil Dinosaur; Alfre Woodard as Lunella’s grandmother, Mimi; Sasheer Zamata as Lunella’s mom, Adria; Jermaine Fowler as Lunella’s dad, James Jr.; Gary Anthony Williams as Lunella’s grandfather, Pops; and series executive producer Laurence Fishburne in the recurring role of The Beyonder, a curious and mischievous trickster. 

The season one guest cast includes Gideon Adlon, Pamela Adlon, Anna Akana, Ian Alexander, Alison Brie, May Calamawy, Andy Cohen, Wilson Cruz, Daveed Diggs, Asia Kate Dillon, Luis Guzmán, Maya Hawke, Jennifer Hudson, Dr. Mae Jemison, Josh Keaton, June Diane Raphael, Paul Scheer, Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Cobie Smulders, Wesley Snipes and Tajinae Turner. Recurring stars include Omid Abtahi, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Michael Cimino, Indya Moore and Craig Robinson. From Disney Television Animation, the series is executive produced by Laurence Fishburne and’Helen Sugland’s Cinema Gypsy Productions (black-ish, grown-ish) and Emmy Award-winner Steve Loter (Kim Possible). Emmy Award-winner Rodney Clouden (Futurama) is supervising producer, Jeffrey M. Howard (Planes) and Emmy Award-winner Kate Kondell (The Pirate Fairy) are co-producers and story editors.
