You wouldn’t expect to see the tough and beautiful Roselyn Sanchez (Without a Trace) in the middle of a bam-bam action film like Act of Valor, starring actual Navy Seals on active duty (as well as a number of great Latino character actors). But there she is, holding her own with real, live soldiers and long-time tough-guy actors like Nestor Serrano (24, 90210, Homeland), Gonzalo Menendez (Cane, The Event, Harry’s Law), and Emilio Rivera (Weeds, Sons of Anarchy).

The critics have not been kind–“a better recruitment film than a movie,” one said–but for a straight-up war movie, it seems to be attracting a lot of attention. We’ll see how the first weekend goes…
