A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of sitting down with actor/now director Michael DeLorenzo and producer Mauricio Mendoza. We talked about their short, It Can Only Be Used Once.

The Bronx-born DeLorenzo was part of the television series Fame, and Head of the Class, though he is probably best known for his portrayal of NYPD Detective Eddie Torres on New York Undercover. All of them showcased his amazing range as a dancer, singer, comedian and dramatic actor; with It Can Only Be Used Once, we’re now getting to see more of his vision as a writer and director. Meanwhile, Mauricio Mendoza has been a hard-working Latino character actor for decades; one of those talented types whose face looks familiar the minute you see him. Now he, too, is showing off his other talent: producer.
In our conversation, we talked about their new project, as well as their long friendship and even their first meeting in the ground-breaking Showtime series Resurrection Blvd.
