Laughter, Heartache and LOVESTRUCK

LovestruckWe rarely do pieces on live theater here at Se Fija!, and when we do, it’s because there was something special about the play. (And I admit it, I really enjoy live theater. A lot.)

I recently checked out Lovestruck, a comedy with a little drama and–most of all–a big heart, and it has that “something special.”

It stars two very talented actresses, Lola Anthony (Laura) and Ivet Corvea (Rachel), who are dealing with the ups and downs of being in a committed relationship. And if you are in one, or have been in one, you’ll find yourself laughing out loud at some of the topics that are touched on in the play.

Credit definitely goes to the two actresses for making you feel that you are right there, experiencing it with them.

The play was directed and produced by playwright Odalys Nanin, founder of Macha Theatre who cowrote the play with Marie Barientos. If you are in the Los Angeles/West Hollywood area, there are Only TWO performances left, July 31 and August 1 at 8P, at Macha Theatre.

For me, it was a nice way to spend a Friday evening. Lovestruck really is “a sexy romantic comedy, Cuban style.” I bet you’ll love it! —A.O.
