In a strong sign of the USA Network’s commitment to the show, the cable net has renewed Graceland for a second season even before the first season finale has aired (that happens Thursday, Sept. 12 at 10P).

Manny Montoya has been in every episode since the beginning of Season 1; Pedro Pascal had a recurring role, but the character was killed off a couple of weeks ago, and Vincent Laresca joined the cast as a recurring character a few weeks ago, and may or may not be back in Season 2.

The show–an unusually gritty approach for USA–follows a group of undercover agents from various law enforcement agencies who live together in a Venice, California beach house they call “Graceland.” The ratings for the show have been strong–an average of more than 4 million viewers per week, with nearly half of that in the coveted 18-49 demographic. That makes it the summer’s most-watched new scripted series on cable in that demo. Interestingly, much of that power-demo following was gained in delayed viewing, with fans watching the show online or on DVR. At least three other USA shows–Suits with Gina Torres, Covert Affairs, and Necessary Roughness have not yet been renewed.
“We’re proud to be the home of the summer’s top new cable dramas, and we anticipate Graceland will be a long-term player for the network,” USA co-president Chris McCumber says in a statement. We’ll see them back sometime in 2014.
