Yeah, yeah, yeah. There are a ton of high-profile, big-budget science fiction extravaganzas coming out in 2015, (Jurassic World, Age of Ultron, Star Wars, blah blah blah), each one guaranteed to bust the block and them some. But every year, some of the best experiences don’t come with the brightest wrappings (think of 2014’s The Machine or The Signal or 2013’s Europa Report as examples). The fine folks at Den of Geek have compiled a pretty intriguing list of indie sci fi films that will be sneaking up on us next year, and really, we couldn’t have done it better ourselves.
They begin with Ex Machina, the next work from the fairly amazing screenwriter Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Sunshine, Never Let Me Go). It looks like a fascinating take on AI and machine sex that leaves Siri (and Her) somewhere in the dust:
Ex Machina has one of our favorite actors in it, Oscar Isaac.
